This animated, Web-based module is an excellent medium for encouraging integrated thinking and self-directed exploration. Students are guided through a web of real-world phenomena by focusing on the physical, chemical and biological interactions we take for granted in our everyday lives. The content is designed to engage younger students by challenging their assumptions, then conveying information (through the persona of online mentor Professor Owl) in a way that relates to their own experience. At the end of each topic, students are invited to test their knowledge with an online quiz or to explore the subject in greater depth via the Web.
In addition to quizzes and an online glossary, students have access to an online forum. Here, they can engage in discussion with their teachers and classmates or pose questions, either to challenge others or to clarify something they don't understand.
