| Chemical modeling software is increasingly available in Hong Kong classrooms to both teachers and students. This courseware module goes beyond mere modeling to animate chemical reactions and pair animations with the formulae they illustrate, accompanied by text explaining the processes involved. Students learn the usual chemistry terminology, properties, and fundamentals, but their understanding of chemical interactions is deepened by the opportunity to observe molecules "in action." In this way, dynamic processes are brought to life. Each section of the module includes theoretical considerations related to the chemical reactions being illustrated, along with opportunities for students to apply what they've learned. This courseware is designed to be used either in class for demonstration purposes or independently by students on a voluntary basis. The module links to a Chemistry section of the Perception testing program and to an online Chemistry forum, which teachers and students may develop as they choose. |
